Job Summary:
The Facilities Support Technician supports the maintenance, organization, and functionality of the facility. This role involves performing routine maintenance tasks, assisting with repair and construction projects, ensuring cleanliness and safety, and supporting day-to-day operations to create a productive work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Maintenance and Repairs:
- Perform minor maintenance tasks inside growing structures (greenhouses, cold frames), such as fixing irrigation, heating/cooling, electrical, lighting, and building structural repairs such as ripped plastic and twin wall.
- Perform minor maintenance tasks outside growing structures, such as fixing irrigation, drainage, liner repair and or replacement, bed frame replacement or reinforcement
- Assist in identifying and reporting larger repair needs.
2. Cleaning and Organization:
- Ensure facilities areas are clean and organized
- Set up and take down equipment for facilities work
- Areas where work has been completed is cleaned up (trash removed), tools returned to facilities in their proper place
- Under the guidance of the Facilities Department Head restock supplies in facility areas.
3. Safety and Compliance:
- Conduct regular inspections to ensure the facility complies with safety regulations.
- Maintain clear and safe walkways, exits, and workspaces.
4. Equipment and Supplies Management:
- Monitor inventory of maintenance supplies and report to Facilities Department Head supplies that need to be ordered
5. Coordination and Support:
- Liaise with the Facilities Department Head for maintenance and repair work.
6. . Construction Projects:
- Assist Facilities Manager in building greenhouses, constructing outdoor growing beds, drainage, etc.
- The construction projects are on-going and require the ability to work physically demanding tasks. Machinery is used whenever possible but some projects require a combination of machines and physical labor or just physical labor.
7. Other Duties:
- Respond promptly to facility-related requests from staff.
- Perform any additional duties as assigned by the Facilities Department Head.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience in facility maintenance or a related role preferred.
- Basic understanding of plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems is an advantage.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy items (up to 50 lbs.) and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Clean driving record is not a must but preference will be given to those that do.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.75 - $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 35 – 40 per week
