Professional with experience in the legal field for busy Estate & Trust Administration Department. Duties include assisting with estates and trusts that are being administered as follows:
Communication and interpersonal skills: This position requires excellent customer service and communications skills. You will meet, work, and interact with estate/trust representatives and beneficiaries and communicate with various court agencies and personnel.
Estate and Trust Administration: Opening probate proceedings, preparing and filing court forms and pleadings; drafting probate pleadings, including fiduciary reports and accountings. You will draft correspondence, manage compliance and deadline calendars obtaining tax IDs, estate/trust administration documents, scanning and filing incoming documents, taking client calls, and interacting with clients, beneficiaries and various financial institutions holding estate/trust assets, and helping with overall organization of estate/trust administration and estate planning files.
Asset Management: Marshalling, organizing and analyzing asset information; acquiring asset values; preparing inventories and accounts.
Tax and Account Preparation: You will prepare inheritance tax returns, fiduciary returns for open estates/trusts, gift tax and estate tax returns. You will review tax reporting documents as well as bank, brokerage and other financial account statements/documents.
Legal Research: Conducting research on federal and state estates and trust tax and administration law and procedure.
File Management: Organizing and maintaining client files, deadlines, attorney schedules and estate and trust tax and financial compliance.
Requirements:
- Position requires an individual with very high attention to detail, strict quality control standards, ability to learn and become proficient working with various legal software programs, highly proficient in Word, time management skills, and fantastic customer service and interaction skills.
- Previous experience as an estates and/or trust administration paralegal or legal secretary is preferred. Prior paralegal or equivalent career experience is required.
- Ability to work on your own.
- Strong proofreading and organizational skills
- Excellent phone etiquette and communication skills
- Ability to use Microsoft Office programs, including Outlook and One Note. Knowledge or willingness to learn Lackner 6-in-1 Estate and Trust Administration Software.
- Knowledge of legal terminology and procedures
- Ability to write clearly and concisely, excellent grammar
-Time Management and Efficiency - must be able to multi-task and keep up with a very busy office.
Full time; Salary commensurate with experience.
Your Role:
As a Paralegal, you will play a crucial role in supporting attorneys in their day-to-day tasks.
