Weyerhaeuser’s MDF facility has a career opportunity for a Functional Area Leader in the Finish End. The successful candidate will have strong leadership and technical capabilities and the ability to grow and develop as a future leader. This position will help to develop leadership, focus safety and work toward operational excellence; also, a successful candidate will help drive quality and production goals, coordinate and maintain operational schedules and support the business to ensure continuous process improvement. A Functional Area Leader provides direct leadership to a team of hourly team members.

This role will report to the Operation Manager.

Key Functions

  • The functional area leader has ownership of the people, processes, equipment and results of a specific functional area including continuous improvement.
  • Provide daily leadership and oversight of functional area team members on all crews.
  • Role model all standards/processes by living our core values of safety, integrity, citizenship, sustainability and inclusion.
  • Improve and maintain functional area performance according to set objectives and established goals for safety, quality, process reliability, cost control and people development.
  • Scheduling and attending regular production/safety meetings and facilitating proactive problem-solving.
  • Actively be involved in assigning work and evaluating job performance.
  • Support cross training initiatives to increase talent depth.
  • Support, coach and provide timely feedback and direction to team members.
  • Meet production standards and goals.
  • Efficiently manage downtime events.

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Management or other related field preferred
  • Minimum of two (2) years of supervisory experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment preferred

Compensation: This role is eligible for our annual merit-increase program, and we are targeting a salary range of $81,300 to $122,00 based on your level of skills, qualifications and experience. You will also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program, which offers a cash bonus targeting 7% of base pay. Potential plan funding may range from zero to two times that target.

Retirement: Employees are able to enroll in our company’s 401k plan, which includes a paid company match in addition to our annual contribution equal to 5% of your base salary.

Paid Time Off or Vacation: We provide eligible employees who are scheduled to work 25 hours or more per week with 3-weeks of paid vacation to use during your first year of employment. In addition, after being employed for six months, eligible employees begin to accrue vacation for future use. We also recognize eleven paid holidays per year, providing a total of 88 holiday hours.
