Systems Administrator

General Summary/Duties:
The Systems Administrator will work collaboratively as part of the Weymouth Public School’s Technology team. This position reports to the Director of Educational Technology and works in conjunction and under the guidance of Coordinator of Technology Infrastructure on projects and daily operations. This position is full time, 52 weeks/year
Specific Duties:
- Implementation and support of Active Directory Maintenance and configuration of Avaya phone systems
- Maintenance and configuration Valcom paging systems
- Server and client virtualization, implementation and support
- District Aspen X2 Student Information System including server updates, backups, and recoveries; escalates issues to Follett as necessary
- District Food Service Point of Sale (POS) client and server support
- District Library Automation Systems
- District Health Service client and server support
- Maintenance of Microsoft Exchange and support of 1500 staff and support email accounts; Maintenance and support of Google Apps for Education accounts, email, and administration
- Maintenance of the email archival system to ensure compliance
- Remote management of client updates
- Anti-Virus Monitoring and Management on the servers
- Researching and recommending all technology systems equipment such as servers, software suites, and specific hardware upgrades
- Continuity, consistency and security of data on the network in collaboration with the Coordinator of Technology Infrastructure and the Technology team
- Client readiness and proctor cache server and software installation for online assessments
- Able to work cooperatively and collaboratively with vendor(s) to develop ongoing positive relationships
- Teamwork mentality, collaborative approach to problem solving
- Knowledge and deployment of centralized management system
- Monitor and maintain Storage Area Network (SAN)
- Aerohive wireless implementation, maintenance, and support
- Serve as a team leader for application and hardware deployments
- Ability to create and maintain accurate and detailed documentation in coordination of the Technology team
- Provides advanced support for Technology Support Specialist(s)
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in IT preferred or equivalent combination of training and work experience
- Knowledge of a wide range of computer operating systems and software applications.
- Certifications are desirable.
- Analytical ability to determine needs and source of problems.
- Ability to recognize trends and recommend appropriate course of action.
- Excellent project management skills, troubleshooting and diagnostic skills, and organizational skills.
- Strong verbal and written communications skills.
