General Description
The Security and Public Safety Department Communications Specialist reports directly to the Director of Security and Public Safety and is responsible for assisting the director with managing the college's mass emergency communications system. This position routinely processes critical information, as well as, handles situations that require prudent judgment and adherence to a strict level of confidentiality.
Requirements
This position requires 60 hours of college credit or two (2) years of full time work experience in a customer service or office environment. This position requires knowledge of social media (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, Snap Chat, and other social media platforms), PowerPoint, clerical and computer proficiency in Microsoft Office and Excel, as well as excellent writing skills, communication skills, and telephone skills. The incumbent in this position must have experience in working well in a team environment and the ability to perform multiple concurrent tasks with frequent interruptions. This position requires strong organizational skills, an initiative towards completion of assignments, attention to details, and excellent follow through skills on all assignments and projects. The incumbent in this position must maintain an extremely high regard for confidential and sensitive college and customer information. A criminal background check is required.
