Job position for Piping Designer / Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) Coordinator
Position Overview: Wharton-Smith, Inc., a highly regarded General Contractor based in Central Florida, is seeking a talented Piping Designer/Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) Coordinator to work on projects in the Commercial, Education, Entertainment, and Water Treatment construction markets.
Primary Responsibilities:
Preparing piping 3D models using Spec Driven software AutoCAD Plant 3D.
3D coordination and clash detection using Navisworks.
Generating piping shop drawings with Bill of Materials.
Modeling equipment, structural assemblies and concrete structures in 3D.
Producing 2D layout drawings.
Maintaining effective communication with Project Engineers and assisting the project teams by providing the needed information for construction.
Assisting in BIM Coordination.
Gathering measurements and information in the field.
Document management.
Assisting in the creation of animations by using Sketch up and Lumion.
Minimum Qualifications:
Graduation from high school.
Computer Aided Drafting and Design Certification or 2 years of experience in computerized design and drafting. AutoCAD preferred.
Must be able to multitask, work on teams, and be able to interact with clients, architects, subs, etc.
High attention to detail.
Strong organizational skills.
Outstanding communication skills.
Willingness to gradually take on more responsibility.
Ability to assume leadership roles.
Must possess a positive attitude, an outstanding work ethic and be team-oriented.
