Summary
The Health & Community Services Department is recruiting for a Temporary Accountant I to assist in a diverse array of accounting, bookkeeping, and clerical support functions to facilitate the workflow and to assist in departmental activities.
Key Duties include:
Independently performs routine, complex and diverse accounting, bookkeeping and clerical support functions.
Independently researches, compiles and prepares complex financial, budget and audit information.
Receives, receipts, reconciles and deposits money or goods. Prepares and processes department payroll, purchase requisitions, payment vouchers, billings and other financial and budgetary paperwork, as assigned.
Assists with preparing, editing, and/or updating contracts, grants, agreements, correspondence, procedures, reports and other documents.
Supervisor: Financial Services Manager
Full-time for up to three months; additional part-time months possible.
Hours of Work: Monday - Friday 8 AM - 4:30 PM
Hourly rate of pay (2025): 23.73 / hour.
Qualifications
- Requires an associate’s degree in accounting or a closely related field AND one year of progressively responsible experience in an accounting-related field.
- Knowledge of governmental accounting standards and integrated financial systems is preferred.
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office software suite.
