The Sheriff's Office is hiring an Outside Maintenance Coordinator to work with crews of adult offenders performing basic construction, maintenance and repair of grounds, structures and facilities. Duties include:
Coordinating, overseeing, leading and monitoring compliance of a crew of offenders of the County Judicial System
Performing a variety of maintenance and construction tasks and projects using hand and power tools and equipment to improve, maintain, renovate or repair structures, grounds and facilities.
Estimating materials needed and determining and accounting for tools and equipment used by crew members.
Instructing work crew members in the safe and proper use and care of tools and equipment, defining projects and scope of activity to be performed and enforcing work rules and job specifications.
Identifying and correcting safety problems and ensuring the safety and security of crew members. Advising other individuals on proper procedures when working with a work crew.
Maintaining daily and quarterly records of work performed, materials and equipment used, and incidents affecting health and safety.
Maintaining close contact with judicial system representatives and supervisor to communicate status of crew and resolve problems.
Responding to public inquiries in a courteous manner, providing information within scope of knowledge and authority or referring to the proper person.

Supervisor: Corrections Sergeant
Hours of work: Monday - Friday, 7:00 am - 3:00 pm
Salary Range: MCBA- Range 130.0Hiring rate depends on qualifications. This position receives annual pay increases to the next step in the associated salary range (apx. 3.8%) subject to satisfactory performance, in addition to any negotiated Cost of Living Adjustments (COLA).
Qualifications
Requires a high school diploma or GED AND three years of recent experience in general building and grounds maintenance, construction and repair, or related field including law enforcement or corrections, WITH three years of lead worker responsibilities and experience in dealing with difficult people.
Have a driving record that meets County standards and possess a valid driver's license at time of hire and throughout employment. Be able to obtain a Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) upon request (including passing Department of Transportation Commercial Driver's License (CDL) random drug and alcohol tests).
Due to Civil Service Rules, must be a United States citizen.
Background check must meet County criteria for law enforcement employees. This will include:
