What are the responsibilities and job description for the Temporary Extra Help - EMS Evaluators and CPR Instructors position at Whatcom County?
Whatcom County Emergency Medical Services is seeking to hire certified Emergency Medical Services Evaluators (ESE) and CPR instructors (HSI Preferred) to create a pool of certified instructors to conduct EMS Evaluator Courses, CPR, and Stop the Bleed trainings, as needed, throughout 2025 and 2026.
Key Duties include:
- Deliver engaging and effective instruction in the EMS Evaluator Course, CPR, Stop the Bleed, and other public-related courses.
- Facilitate and evaluate skill stations, including setup and teardown.
- Accurately compile and complete skill station paperwork.
- Participate in scenario-based role plays for assessment simulations and provide constructive feedback to students.
- Work collaboratively with the EMS Training Specialist to ensure high-quality instruction.
Length of Position: As needed, up to 30 hours per month. On-going through 2026. High School Diploma or GED.
Current Washington State Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Paramedic or equivalent certification.
Washington State EMS Evaluator (ESE) certification.
Certification as a CPR Instructor (HSI preferred).
Requires the ability to:
- Communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with County EMS providers, public and private officials, the public and other agency personnel, including hospital staff and administrators.
- Organize and prioritize workload and work in a fast-paced, multi-agency environment.
- Provide high-quality instruction and maintain a positive learning environment for a diverse group of students.
- Deliver excellent customer service and maintain professional interactions with internal and external stakeholders.
- Maintain effective, ongoing communication with the EMS Training Specialist.
