What are the responsibilities and job description for the Temporary Extra Help--Equipment Services/Stores position at Whatcom County?
Whatcom County Public Works, Equipment Services Division, will hire one temporary employee for spring/summer 2025. This employee will be primarily assigned to the central stores/mechanical shop for labor-intensive duties, parts delivery, parts pickup at various locations, inventory distribution and organizing. There will also be computer work involving word processing, spreadsheets and internet research. Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel is preferred.
Working Conditions: Work is performed at Central Shop and in field locations throughout Whatcom County. Drives a motor vehicle. Works outdoors in all types of weather, traverses rough terrain and inclines. Uses appropriate safety equipment and follows established safety policies, practices and procedures.
Length of Position: Start and end dates may vary dependent on candidate availability.
Hours: 6:00 AM - 4:30 PM Monday though Thursday (schedule may be subject to change based on departmental needs).Rate of Pay: $19.38 per hour
Must possess a valid driver's license at time of hire and throughout employment.
Background check must meet County criteria.
Four hours of forklift certification training will be provided and required within two weeks of hire.
Must have a driving record that meets County standards.
