ROLE:
WHC Energy Services – A Surerus Murphy Company (WHC), is looking to develop a new generation of construction leaders, leveraging the experience and knowledge of our existing industry leaders and providing the opportunity to learn on infrastructure projects.
Our Construction Management Graduates: want a challenging career in the Construction Industry, specifically Oil & Gas and Power to include Solar, BESS, & Substation, and will have an educational background in a construction related degree/diploma. We expect ambition, drive, and a great work ethic and in return we will offer a structured learning program, working alongside respected and experienced professionals from WHC.
Successful candidates will be offered exposure, on a rotational cycle to core disciplines that may include Project Controls, Contract, and Commercial, Estimating and Proposals, Scheduling, Engineering and Field Operations within our three sectors of Pipeline, Power, and Facilities. Upon successful completion of the training program, our Construction Management Graduates will be offered permanent placements in one of the core disciplines of the business.
DISCIPLINE DESCRIPTIONS:
Estimating and Proposals:
Developing Project and Construction Execution Plans (PEP/ CEP), bid writing, scheduling framework development
Engineering and Field Operations:
Engineering Principles, Construction methodology, Health, Safety, and Environment, Resource Deployment, and management, forecasting and planning
Project Controls:
Cost Capture, Field Records, Forecasting
Contract and Commercial:
Progress Payments, Change Management, Contract & Risk Reviews, Supply Chain Management (including Subcontract Management and Procurement)
Scheduling:
Daily, Weekly, and Monthly Progress Reporting, Development of work package schedules on ongoing monitoring, assessment of change, resource management
Business Operations:
Human Resources, Finance, Marketing & Communications, Legal, Quality Assurance, Business Systems & Process Development
Personal Development & Growth:
Leadership Skills, Software Training, Communication
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Experience
0 – 2 years in a construction project environment is seen as an advantage but not essential.
Qualifications
Degree (Construction, Civil/Structural), or graduate of an applicable technical diploma program, and/or,
Skills
Understanding of the Oil and Gas industrial construction industry.
Communication – the ability to communicate in written and spoken form is essential, as is the ability to read and understand construction documents including contracts, drawings, specifications, subcontracts.
Understanding of estimating and project management theories, methodologies and industry practices is considered an asset.
Familiarity with relevant construction codes, standards, and practices.
Salary : $60,000 - $94,000
