About the Role
As an Extruder Operator at Maverick Pipe, a partner of Zekelman Industries, located in Richmond, KY, you will play a key role in the efficient production of quality window parts. You will work as part of a team to operate and maintain a group of extruders, ensuring products meet customer specifications with minimal downtime and waste. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, is detail-oriented, and enjoys hands-on work with machinery.
Shift: 4:30 am – 4:30 pm (Day Shift)
Pay: Competitive based on experience
- Operates and maintains extruders to produce quality window parts in accordance with customer specifications.
- Conducts quality checks on parts and documents results to ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Identifies and reports defects (e.g., sink lines, weaves) to the appropriate personnel.
- Anticipates material needs and monitors production lines to minimize downtime and waste.
- Cuts and weighs product samples for Quality Assurance (QA) testing and customer requirements.
- Records production data, including sold quantity, scrap quantity, line speed, SPC, and O.E.E.
- Assists with set-ups and changeovers, ensuring smooth transitions between production batches.
- Ensures hopper and water misters are properly filled, and follows other process parameters to maintain quality.
- Maintains cleanliness of machinery and production areas, including saws, bags, extruders, and downstreams.
- Adjusts extruders and calibrator blocks to ensure correct dimensions, weight, and surface quality.
- Transports and arranges packaging materials and manages product cart staging.
- Keeps production area clean and organized by performing routine cleaning of floors, machines, and walls.
- 1 year of experience in a manufacturing environment, with knowledge of OSHA safety standards and SPC.
- 9th-grade level proficiency in math and reading.
- Ability to read and understand packaging layouts and manufacturing documentation.
- Familiar with using hand tools, air guns, banders, chop saws, calipers, and other machinery.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently and in teams.
- Stable work history and commitment to maintaining high safety and quality standards.
- Must be able to lift and carry materials up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and work in a manufacturing environment.
