Position summary:

The Controller is responsible for overseeing various aspects of Wheaton's financial operations, including accounting, financial reporting, and internal controls. This role manages the daily accounting functions and staff, including Accountants, Accounts Receivable (A/R), Accounts Payable (A/P), and Credit & Collections. This position works closely with and provides critical support to the CFO on various projects.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Prepare and analyze monthly and annual financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Implement and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure financial accuracy.
- Oversee day-to-day accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and fixed asset management.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local tax regulations.
- Manage the annual benefits audit and review process, addressing any audit findings.
- Interpret financial data to identify trends, potential risks, and opportunities for improvement.
- Assess and optimize existing processes and procedures for improved efficiency.
- Lead, mentor, and manage accounting staff, ensuring team efficiency and professional development.
- Perform staff management duties, including performance reviews, hiring, and termination decisions as needed.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience: 3-5 years of experience in an Accounting Supervisor or Manager role.
- Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and proven experience in financial reporting and analysis.
- Analytical Skills: Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Leadership & Communication: Strong leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage a team and collaborate across departments.
- Technology Proficiency: Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office 365.
Education & Certifications:
- Degree: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
- Certifications: CPA or CMA preferred but not required.
