GENERAL PURPOSE
Responsible for the planning and implementation of youth music lessons.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent with at least 2 years' knowledge and experience with instrument teaching methods. Must have good communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Research, plan, and implement music lessons.
- Actively participate by demonstrating specific class instrument.
- Responsible for taking attendance and managing classroom behavior.
- Must interact and communicate with participants and parents.
- Responsible for communication and scheduling of makeup lessons.
- Provide a high quality of customer service in a professional manner to the internal customer that will facilitate team building and exceptional customer service to the external customer.
- Follow the Wheaton Park District policies, procedures, and guidelines.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, ETC.
Must have and maintain : CPR / AED certified or obtain within one (1) year of employment. Be a "Mandated Reporter" for the Abused and Neglected Child Reporting Act.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must be able to : frequently remain in a stationary position for long periods of time with occasional repetitive use of hands / arms; continuous use of hand / eye coordination and fine manipulation such as when using a musical instrument, and must be able to hear.
ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS
Must be able to : work in an indoor environment with moderate lighting and above average noise.
HOURS
Wednesday evenings (starting January 2025) 4 : 00p.m. to 8 : 00p.m.; 30-minute private sessions
SALARY
16-$18 per 30-minute lesson DOQ
