What are the responsibilities and job description for the Driver position at Wheelcare Express, Inc?
Non-emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) company that has been proudly serving many counties in Northern California for over 40 years. Currently we have offices in Sacramento, San Leandro/Oakland, San Mateo, Santa Rosa/Solano and Tracy.
Our company is looking for full-time and part-time drivers to transport clients to and from medical appointments and other engagements. Many of our clients are disabled and may need to be transported by wheelchair or gurney.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Transport patients to various locations in our medical transport vehicles in a safe efficient and timely manner.
- Observe and follow all traffic rules and regulations.
- Inspect vehicles before shift by checking fuel, oil, water, tires, lights, brakes and steering to ensure vehicle can be operated safely. Notify supervisor of mechanical defects or needed repairs.
- Report and document all accidents, vehicle damage, client incidents and mechanical failures.
- Complete trip documentation (mainly via phone applications).
- Keep assigned vehicle clean and fueled.
- Wheelchair and Gurney lift operation
- Communicate with Dispatch.
- Follow safety and COVID protocols
- Instruct clients on safe riding rules and regulations
QUALIFICATIONS
- Valid California Driver’s License. Good Driving Record.
- Must be at least 23 years old
- Ability to pass alcohol & drug test
- Ability to pass background check
- Ability to pass First Aid & CPR training course
- Ability to pass Department of Transportation (DOT) Physical
- Must have a positive attitude, good communication skills and be empathetic and polite.
- Past NEMT Driver experience is a plus, but not mandatory. We will train you!
Salary : $17 - $18
