Draftsman/CAD Operator

Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented CAD Operator to join our team. This role is responsible for producing comprehensive construction plans, including architectural, engineering, and millwork drawings, for commercial tenant finish-outs in the medical and veterinary industries. The ideal candidate will be proficient in AutoDesk and have experience creating 2D (two-dimensional) drawings. This position requires strong attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple projects, and a solid understanding of AutoCAD hotkeys for efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare complete 2D construction drawings for permitting and code compliance.
- Manage the permitting process and coordinate with city officials.
- Develop accurate shop drawings in AutoDesk based on sketches, specifications, and site measurements.
- Interpret and calculate requirements for MEP design.
- Revise and update existing drawings to reflect design changes.
- Provide digital and hard copies of drawings for internal and external use.
- Assist the estimating team and gain hands-on training in estimating.
- Analyze project requirements to support material take-offs and cost calculations.
- Conduct site visits and field measurements.
- Provide technical support to field and office teams regarding drawings.
Qualifications:
- 3 years of experience in AutoCAD drafting.
- Strong proficiency in AutoDesk, specifically for 2D drafting (client only works in 2D).
- Ability to read and interpret floor plans, MEP layouts, and elevations.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD hotkeys for workflow efficiency.
- Some college coursework is preferred but not required.
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills for estimating training.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work efficiently under deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with local building codes and permitting processes.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
