About the Role
Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Payroll Manager for a contract-to-hire opportunity with a healthcare client in Plano, TX. This hybrid role requires a minimum of 3 days onsite per week, with flexibility to work more days in-office as needed. The selected candidate will play a critical role in managing multi-state, multi-site payroll operations using Paycom.
Position Details
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee payroll processing across 20 EINs, managing bi-weekly payroll for facilities with 30 to 260 FTEs each
- Act as a hands-on working manager (no direct reports)
- Facilitate payroll operations and collaborate with local HR staff to ensure accuracy and timely submission
- Import and manage time records via Paycom
- Train and support HR staff at various facilities on payroll procedures and system use
- Conduct payroll cycle variance analysis, reporting discrepancies to management
- Ensure accurate and compliant processing of direct deposits, garnishments, payroll taxes, and W-2s
- Maintain confidentiality and ensure adherence to federal, state, and local payroll regulations
Qualifications
- 4–7 years of payroll experience with a focus on multi-site and multi-state operations
- Paycom payroll processing experience is required
- Healthcare industry experience preferred
- Strong understanding of payroll law, tax reporting, and compliance
- Experience processing payroll in the following states preferred: TX, LA, MS, OK, AZ, NM, ID, OH, PA
- Professional presence with strong verbal and written communication skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience)
