Surgical Services

We also focus on critical areas such as Emergency Services, Critical Care, Med / Surg, and Telemetry, making us a vital resource for patient care in the region.

Position Summary

The Cath Lab Tech plays a vital role in the cardiovascular team by assisting physicians and staff in clinical and technical aspects of cardiovascular care. The position involves performing direct and indirect functions in the cardiac catheterization lab, including :

Scrubbing, monitoring, and circulating in all invasive and interventional cardiovascular procedures.

Handling emergency cardiac alerts, including STEMI cases.

Managing inventory control and ensuring a safe and efficient environment for both patients and staff.

Key Responsibilities

Perform pre-, intra-, and post-procedure assessments and inform the nurse or physician of any changes in the patient’s condition.

Develop and implement individualized care plans based on the procedure being performed and the patient’s specific needs.

Provide education and guidance to patients, families, and staff members.

Execute X-ray imaging for desired views (e.g., abdominal aortograms, runoff) and manage storing and printing of images.

Prioritize patient care based on needs and resources, including emergency care situations.

Set up and monitor equipment such as intra-aortic balloon pumps (IABP) and assist with the setup, insertion, and care of temporary and permanent pacemakers.

Qualifications

Education :

Required : Graduate of a certificate or degree-granting program in a health science field (e.g., cardiovascular technology, radiologic technology, respiratory therapy, surgical technology, paramedic / EMT).

Experience :

Required : 1 year of critical care experience.

Preferred : 1 year of experience in a cardiac cath lab.

Certifications :

Required :

BLS (Basic Life Support)

ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) within 3 months of hire

Certification or degree from a health science program

Preferred : RCIS (Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist) certification
