Position Overview
Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking an experienced Controller to join our client’s team in Dallas, TX . This hands-on, high-visibility role is perfect for an accounting professional who thrives in managing month-end closes, financial reporting, and leading a small but stable team. The successful candidate will report to the VP of Finance, who was recently promoted from this role, and collaborate closely with executive leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee the consolidated month-end close process and prepare consolidated financial statements.
Ensure accurate and timely accounting and reporting of financial information.
Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, internal controls, and regulatory requirements.
Prepare and provide internal financial reports and analysis to management.
Assist leadership with internal control compliance and comparative analysis of actual results vs. budget.
Lead and mentor the corporate accounting team (3-4 direct reports, including Accounts Payable, Staff Accountant, and Senior Accountant).
Manage treasury activities, including cash management, disbursements, and debt compliance.
Facilitate information requests from third-party tax accountants and auditors.
Administer accounting tools and processes, including :
SAP Concur for expense reporting and invoice workflow.
Company credit card program.
Participate in accounting software integrations and implementations as needed.
Handle ad hoc projects and analyses as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
CPA preferred (experience may substitute for certification).
8-10 years of relevant accounting experience, including :
Managing personnel.
Coordinating audit and tax activities.
Public accounting experience preferred.
Experience in mid-sized companies with hands-on responsibilities preferred.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including Pivot Tables, V-LOOKUP, and formulas.
Familiarity with Power BI and systems such as AS400 / ASW and FloQast is a plus.
Distribution / warehouse industry experience is a nice-to-have but not required.
