POSITION SUMMARY The Psychiatrist functions as a member of a multi-disciplinary team and contributes to the team and applies to the treatment of client's the psychiatric and related skills acquired through the training and/or experience required for this position. This position may provide services within one or more Wheeler Clinic program(s), and the relative concentration between and within programs may change with the needs of the Clinic   Eligible for a $20,000 sign on bonus.  Half paid upon start and half after 1 year.   Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) in Hartford, CT.  Eligible for up to $250,000 in loan repayment through National Health Service Corp (NHSC).   EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of  Osteopathic Medicine with relevant Board Certification or Board eligibility by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology is required.   Licensure Requirements for Clinical Positions - Licensed physician in the State of Connecticut.  -Active DEA controlled substance registration and an active Connecticut controlled substance registration   LOCATION Opportunities in Waterbury, Hartford or Bristol, CT.   SCHEDULE Full time and part time opportunities available.   EMPLOYEE BENEFITS  At Wheeler, we're committed to not only supporting your career growth but also ensuring your well-being and security. Develops and documents clear clinical formulations and treatment plans that are individualized and measureable, developed in collaboration with the client/family and others, as relevant. Demonstrates knowledge of psychopathology and other behavioral concerns and primary modalities of psycho-therapeutic intervention.  Triages clinical emergencies and implements program specific safety and consultation protocols. Utilizes best practice and evidence-based practice models where appropriate and adheres to model and program expectations. Demonstrates knowledge of internal and external levels of care, referral processes and resources. Makes clinically appropriate referrals for identified service needs in a timely manner. Identifies potential risk factors and takes measures to reduce those risks in the milieu through reinforcement of positive and safe behaviors, trauma-informed and relationally-based therapeutic interventions, and reports of suspected child abuse/neglect, according to agency policies and procedures. Trains and participates in emergency safety interventions authorized and approved by the agency, when a student presents with an imminent safety concern. Communicates in a positive, effective manner with clients, families and all internal and external providers. Attends any required meetings. Meets direct service productivity goals as defined by program. Demonstrates knowledge of program/department/agency goals and target outcomes, adheres to practice standards, data collection and reporting protocols. Documents all client-related information in compliance with agency policy. Attends and is prepared for scheduled supervision. Seeks additional supervision or consultation as needed and follows through with supervisory directives. Provides service in the office and /or community settings outside of the office (e.g., homes, schools, hospitals, institutions, other community locations) as defined by the program. Transports youth to appointments and activities. Maintains required license and certifications. Reports child abuse/neglect as mandated, adheres to confidentiality guidelines and meets all necessary licensing, regulatory and accreditation standards, as related to the program, staff, records and care of youth. May provide clinical supervision, training and leadership, as well as assumes additional responsibility within the program. Demonstrates clinical competence in a congregate care setting as evidenced by teaming skills, knowledge of milieu-based programming, trauma-informed care, trauma-focused treatment, developmentally and gender sensitive care, and relational practices, as well as documentation and regulatory requirements.
