Job Summary
The CFO is a key leader in shaping the strategic direction of the Credit Union. This person will report directly to the CEO and be a member of the leadership team. This person will oversee the financial operations of the Credit Union, including the management of the Accounting and Finance teams. The CFO ensures that all accounting systems, practices, controls, and procedures are in compliance with accepted financial principles and adhere to federal and state regulations.

Job Responsibilities
- Lead the Accounting and Finance teams in maintaining accurate records and implementing robust internal controls to safeguard the Credit Union’s assets.
- Oversee the Finance and Accounting teams, providing leadership, mentorship and performance management. Conduct performance reviews, recommend compensation adjustments, and foster a culture of continuous learning and professional growth to ensure optimal team performance.
- Extensive involvement in developing the organization’s strategic and business plans. Utilize forward looking models and activity-based analyses to provide financial insight into the Credit Union’s plans and operating budget. Provide data-driven recommendations that align with the Credit Union’s plans for short-term and long-term growth.
- Serve as a member of the Credit Union’s Asset Liability Committee (ALCO), Salary Committee, Fair Lending Committee, Enterprise Risk and as a trustee of the 401(k) Plan.
- Responsible for the Credit Union’s annual budget. Prepare and present monthly financial budgeting reports including monthly profit and loss by division, forecast vs. budget by division and weekly cash flow by division.
- Create and establish yearly financial objectives that align with the Credit Union’s plan for growth and expansion.
- Responsible for the oversight of net worth and analysis of forecasts.
- Perform financial analysis of the Credit Union’s operations to ascertain financial performance, liquidity position, cash flow, budget performance, cost control and similar financial activities.
- Regularly analyze policies and procedures, recommend necessary changes to the CEO, and develop new policies and procedures that result in a more efficient operation.
- Act as the Credit Union’s chief liaison with investment houses, or other financial institutions, and appropriate government agencies concerning investments and securities. Explore new investment opportunities and provide recommendations on potential returns and risks.
- Supervise creation of reports, software implementation and tools for budgeting and forecasting.
- Oversee the preparation and communication of weekly, monthly, and annual financial statements.
- Responsible for preparing and ensuring the accuracy of all financial and statistical reports included in the monthly Board of Directors agenda.
- Responsible for compliance with laws and regulations applicable to the incumbent's area of management and supervision.
- Coordinate audit activities with the Internal Auditor, examiners, external auditors, and Supervisory Committee.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting required
- Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in financial institution accounting and financial management, including supervisory and leadership roles, preferably within the credit union industry
- Previous management and supervisory experience
- Master of Business Administration (MBA) a plus
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) strongly preferred
- Highly proficient with Microsoft Office Products including Excel and database programs
- Significant experience working with budgets, forecasting, analysis, asset/liability management, and investments in the financial services industry
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the Credit Union’s mission and vision, ensuring alignment with its values and objectives. Maintain strict adherence to confidentiality, security protocols, and professional standards of conduct and attire at all times.
