What are the responsibilities and job description for the Wheeling Park Pool Lifeguard position at Wheeling Park?
Monitors activities in swimming areas to prevent accidents and provide assistance to swimmers by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Cautions swimmers regarding unsafe areas.
- Rescues swimmers in danger of drowning and administers first aid, completes accident reports completely and accurately.
- Maintains order in swimming areas; enforce all facility rules.
- Inspects facilities for cleanliness.
- Reports anything that appears unsafe to pool supervisor and/or manager immediately.
- Stay alert of signals from other guards.
- Determines chlorine content and pH value of water with water testing kit every hour.
- Check chlorine level on computer and match with a manual reading, complete report completely.
- May give private swimming lessons.
- Clear all swimmers from the water during an electrical storm.
- Take survey of the bottom of the swimming and wading areas at closing time and between each change of activity.
- Attend weekly drill meetings.
- Maintain proper protective equipment for your station; insure first-aid equipment is in good repair.
- Assist pool attendant in cleaning pool area at the end of each day.
- May put pool benches down in the morning and up in the evenings.
- May clean baby pool as needed.
- May help with cleaning of restroom during the day.
- Vacuums and refills pool.
- May work as a cashier.
- Interact with the public with a cheerful and positive attitude, solve guest problems and complaints in a proper manner, and maintain harmonious working relationships with fellow employees.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Less than high school education; or up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
