Head Coach, Swimming
The Wheeling University Head Coach is responsible for fulfilling all position-specific requirements to create a viable NCAA D-II swimming program. Must be able to travel out of town for extended periods and can work extended hours, such as evenings and weekends. Requirements include a valid, driver’s license; NCAA Compliance Certification; and First Aid, CPR, and AED certification. Proficient in using the recruiting software program Front Rush.
Trains and prepares student-athletes. Teaches sport-specific skills, tactics, and philosophy; schedules and directs practices; conducts sport-specific physical training and conditioning for student-athletes in and off-season. Ensures athletes are making satisfactory academic progress; works with the Faculty Academic Representative, the Academic Coordinator, and Registrar to monitor athlete’s grades; establishes and coordinates study halls; provides mentors and tutors as needed; and ensures all student-athletes are academically eligible per NCAA and conference requirements and entered correctly into the NCAA Compliance Program; and maintains regular office consultation hours.

Responsible for overseeing GA’s. Includes hiring, training, directing, monitoring and performance feedback

Accountable for scouting and recruiting of future student athletes. Includes following all NCAA, conference and University regulations and guidelines; assessing athletic talent and academic performance of potential student athletes; determining who meets the athletic requirements and University academic standards; and coordinating scholarships per the University’s approved model.

Supports the sports program. This includes representing the University in all sport-specific activities; assisting the Sports Information Director in the organization of sports information materials such as media guides, press releases, and community
public relations programs; assists with program budgets; purchases uniforms and equipment; coordinates pre-season medical exams for student athletes; scout’s opponents and prepares game plans; establishes itineraries and makes travel arrangements.

Qualifications
Minimum Education Level Required: Bachelor’s Degree
Minimum Experience Level Required: Three years’ experience as a collegiate assistant coach. Experience as a head coach and player is preferred.
Other: Required to have a valid driver’s license; NCAA Rules Compliance Certification; and First Aid, CPR, AED certification.
