Job Summary
The Shipping Assistant is responsible for properly packaging goods to ensure damage-free transport. This includes loading and unloading trucks, both for company shipments and vendor deliveries to Whelan.
Duties
- Ensure finished products are shipped to customers on time by coordinating with Quality, Assembly, Planning, and Operations teams.
- Verify that all products returned from outside services are in good condition and follow up on any discrepancies.
- Inspect product and packaging quality prior to delivery to customers.
- Safely operate and maintain company vehicles, ensuring they remain in good working condition.
- Determine appropriate box sizes and packing materials for shipments.
- Operate a forklift (must pass a forklift operation exam) to load and unload trucks as needed.
- Securely tie down packages in vehicles and trailers to ensure safe transport.
- Manually load and unload small packages when required, with the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Maintain a clean, safe working environment in the shipping and receiving area.
Experience
- Shipping and receiving experience is preferred.
- A driving record free of accidents and tickets for at least 2 years.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.

Pay: $19.00 - $22.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
