About the Role:
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Dental Assistant to join our team. As a Dental Assistant, you will play a critical role in performing different clinical procedures with the doctor which includes prepping the patients and assisting the Dentists and Hygienists, all while creating a comfortable environment for the patient. The Dental Assistant will be responsible for knowing our policies and procedures to provide patients and families with dental care instructions and dental health education.
Responsibilities:
- Patient Care & Comfort: Provide compassionate and child-friendly care, ensuring young patients feel safe and at ease during dental procedures.
- Chairside Assistance: Support dentists during examinations and treatments by handing instruments, operating suction devices, and ensuring efficient procedure flow.
- Infection Control: Sterilize instruments, prepare treatment rooms, and adhere to strict infection control protocols to maintain a clean and safe environment.
- Patient Education: Teach children and their guardians about proper oral hygiene practices, including brushing, flossing, and dietary tips for dental health.
- Radiography: Take and process dental X-rays as directed by the dentist, following safety guidelines.
- Record Management: Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including updating charts and entering treatment notes.
- Behavior Management: Employ strategies to handle anxiety or fear in pediatric patients, creating a positive and engaging experience.
- Inventory Management: Monitor and restock dental supplies and materials to ensure readiness for procedures.
Skills:
As a Pediatric Dental Assistant, you will leverage your exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to create a welcoming and comforting environment for young patients and their families. You will use your technical expertise to assist the dentist with procedures, including taking X-rays, applying fluoride treatments, and maintaining accurate patient records. Your organizational abilities will be crucial for ensuring the office is clean, well-organized, and fully stocked with necessary supplies. Working effectively in a fast-paced environment, you will also demonstrate familiarity with dental software and technology, supporting the team in delivering high-quality pediatric dental care.

- Ability to commute to Delmar and Schodack offices on an as needed basis preferred

Minimum Qualifications:- 1 years Dental Assisting experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications:- Experience working in a pediatric dental office
- Familiarity with dental software and technology
- 3 years of Dental Assisting Experience
