Youth Mentor - Weekend Job Description
Location: Mountain Rest, SC, 29664
Position Overview
Youth Mentors play a crucial role in our students' success. They build trusting relationships, hold boundaries, and structure daily recreational and therapeutic activities with support and guidance from the team and manager.
Youth Mentors are trained in effective research based relationship building and de-escalation techniques.
Schedule:
Monday - Thursday 12:30 pm - 10:30 pm
Responsibilities:
- Provide a nurturing environment and close supervision of students
- Utilize natural and logical consequences to hold students accountable
- Employs relationship and counseling skills effectively
- Complete all necessary student documentation
- Attend, participate and complete all mandatory training
Requirements:
- Love working with children
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience working with youth
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Flexibility to work doubles during the day on the weekends
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Pass a background check

Working Conditions:
Work includes active movement around facility and on off campus activities in all weather conditions and various terrain. Must have the ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, life and grasp. Must be able to stand up and move around 95% of shift. Must have the ability to express and exchange ideas via spoken word during activities in which they must convey detail or important spoken instructions to others accurately, and sometimes quickly and loudly. Hearing to perceive the nature of sounds with or without correction; ability to perceive detailed information through oral communication and to make fine discriminations in sound. Work requires a minimal standard of visual acuity with or without correction that will enable people in the role to visually observe residents in acts of daily living, recreational and therapeutic activities.
