Job Summary
An Orthopedic Technician plays a vital role in supporting orthopedic surgeons who specialize in treating and operating on the skeletal system.

Main Responsibilities:
- Apply and remove dressings, sutures/staples, casts, and splints.
- Assist physicians with back-office duties like rooming patients, taking vital signs, and assisting with minor procedures.
- Follow prescription refill protocols.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Perform basic triage according to office protocols.
- Recognize and respond to urgent/emergent situations.
- Keep work areas, exam rooms, supplies, medications, and immunizations organized.
- Complete associated clerical tasks like scheduling, filing, and recalls.
- Collaborate with team members across departments.
- Document work processes as needed.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- Completion of a Medical Assistant program.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Medical Assistant with at least one year of experience in an orthopedic setting.
- Familiarity with medical terminology.
Certifications and Licenses:
- Washington State Medical Assistant Certification.
- Certification by the National Association of Orthopedic Technicians.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
