Job Summary
The Dispatcher is responsible for the daily coordination of delivery personnel and vehicles, ensuring that all deliveries align with customer contracts and scheduling constraints. This role requires continuous communication with drivers, assisting with directions, last-minute delivery adjustments, and customer notifications regarding changes to deliveries or pickups. Additional responsibilities may be assigned by management as needed.
Key Responsibilities & Duties:
- Optimize Routing & Delivery Scheduling
- Determine the most efficient and cost-effective routes for delivery vehicles, considering delivery locations and the skill sets of the delivery and installation teams.
- Direct the scheduling of deliveries and notify customers and internal departments of estimated arrival times.
- Integrate new orders and last-minute requests into existing delivery schedules seamlessly.
- Driver Communication & Customer Coordination
- Maintain frequent communication with drivers to track delivery progress, resolve issues, and adjust schedules as needed.
- Communicate with customers regarding delivery schedules, potential issues, and installation concerns to enhance satisfaction.
- Identify and resolve communication gaps between Sales, Logistics, and Customers to improve workflow efficiency.
- Operational Oversight & Problem Solving
- Coordinate after-hours pickups and deliveries as needed.
- Report fleet-related issues to the Warehouse Manager and Operations Manager for resolution.
- Utilize Point of Rental software and other tools for tracking, scheduling, and reporting.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Strong organizational and leadership skills.
- Ability to learn and use new software programs (Point of Rental).
- Professional demeanor with the ability to collaborate with event planners and coordinators.
- Previous dispatch, delivery, or routing experience is a plus.
- Availability to work weekends as needed.
