Sales Engineer

We are looking for a results-oriented Sales Engineer to work directly with your assigned cross-functional Business Unit Team on developing and executing strategies for continued new business growth and expansion of legacy business. In this role, you would typically:
  • Lead the sales effort to pursue and win new business consistent with the company value drivers, including aftermarket opportunities.
  • Engage with customers early in the procurement cycle to assist with specification development to minimize competitive risk and increase chance of success. 
  • Explain complex technical details of Whippany products and services in a way that is understandable to customers.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure customers’ requirements are met.
  • Primary customer interface throughout the new business cycle, responsible for building and fostering strong customer relationships and partnerships
  • Take the lead role throughout the new business cycle


We require:
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or college
  • Experience within a customer facing, sales, or business development role.
  • Ability to travel up to 40%
  • Authorization to work in the US

Eligibility Requirements:

This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. Whippany Actuation Systems will require proof of status before employment.

 

We would really like to see:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or Business is preferred
  • Sales or Business Development experience in an Aerospace components business is preferred
  • Experience selling to aircraft OEMs, prime contractors, tier-1 suppliers, government agencies, airlines, and MRO shops
  • Government contracts experience
  • Exhibit leadership qualities, self-motivates and demonstrates a can-do attitude
  • Strong written and verbal communication and inter-personal skills
  • Ability to read, interpret and negotiate contracts, Statement of Work and Customer Specifications
  • Good data driven business sense/judgment
  • Critical thinking problem solving with a high attention to detail
  • Excellent communication (verbal & written), people, and organizational skills
  • Take ownership for their performance and for their team’s performance
  • Extensive working knowledge of MS office software (particularly MS Excel and MS PowerPoint)

 

Physical Requirements Include:

  • Ability to operate office equipment including computers and determine accuracy of work.
  • Ability to interact and participate in meetings.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to remain in a stationary position for a significant period and maneuver around the facility as needed.
  • Manual dexterity, which allows the individual to use hands to type on a keyboard, use a mouse and write are required.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
