Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Underground Excavator to oversee and participate in underground piping projects. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in trenchless excavation methods, pipeline lining, and heavy equipment operation. This role requires a proven leader with excellent communication and problem-solving skills, capable of managing crews and ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise a crew of underground excavation personnel.
- Plan and execute excavation projects, including trenchless installations, open-cut excavations, and shoring systems.
- Operate and maintain a variety of heavy equipment, including excavators, backhoes, trenchers, directional drilling equipment, and other related machinery.
- Perform pipeline lining and rehabilitation using various methods.
- Ensure adherence to all safety regulations and company policies.
- Train and mentor junior crew members.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Proven experience as an Underground Excavator, with a minimum of 2 years of experience in a lead or supervisory role.
- Extensive knowledge of trenchless excavation techniques, including horizontal directional drilling, pipe ramming, microtunneling.
- Proficiency in pipeline lining and rehabilitation methods, such as cured-in-place pipe (CIPP), sliplining, spray-applied liners.
- Mastery of heavy equipment operation, including excavators, backhoes, trenchers, directional drilling equipment, and other related machinery.
- Strong understanding of underground utility construction practices and safety regulations (OSHA, etc.).
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills. .
