What are the responsibilities and job description for the Communication Design Intern position at Whisper Aero?
About the Role
Whisper Aero is seeking a Communication Design Intern to support the Design Team, based out of Nashville, TN for the summer of 2025. You will play a critical role in helping shape our design initiatives, with ownership of multiple outputs. You will be responsible for generating external and internal graphic assets, swag, branding ideation, CMF iteration, among others, researching innovative design solutions to our initiatives, and working closely with our design lead and extended product team to generate impactful content to help tell our story. Your work will not only be contextualized around our existing branding guidelines, but will help further push how our physical and digital assets manifest. This role requires a breadth of ability across different mediums and software, ranging from Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, Final Cut Pro, and Cinema4D (a plus), enabling Whisper Aero to deliver cutting-edge products that transform the aerospace and consumer product industries.
What You’ll Do
- Following Whisper’s branding guidelines, design impactful and elegant content to be shared internally, ranging from swag to layouts.
- Design sophisticated marketing content to be shared externally through social media, conferences, web, print, and other mediums.
- Gather and synthesize innovative solutions in service of furthering our product development initiatives, both physical and digital.
- Iterate color schemes and material selection considerations in concert with our lead designer’s industrial design ideation.
- Video editing capabilities and/or animation of existing 3D geometry to showcase our designs and tell the Whisper story.
- Iterate and further the Whisper Aero website to continually improve the digital story-telling of our mission statement.
Basic Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's/Master’s degree in Industrial Design, Graphic Design, Advertising Design or related field.
- Strong portfolio showcasing design excellence in service of telling a brand’s story.
- Versatility across modern design tools (Figma, Photoshop, MidJourney/AI tools, Blender, Keyshot, Final Cut Pro, CinemaD4 etc.)
- Flexibility in championing independent design ideation as well as providing supplementary design work to an existing lead direction.
- Flexibility in working within fast-paced, cross-functional teams across a variety of mediums.
- Deep understanding and awareness of design trends across multiple disciplines.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to contextualize design-decisions and ascertain buy-in.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with experience interfacing with customers and senior leadership.
- U.S. Citizenship required due to government contracts.
Bonus Qualifications
- Ability to edit existing video footage and synthesize impactful marketing clips.
- Ability to import and animate 3D data, outputting video content.
- Experience working/interning within fast-paced startups.
- Experience ideating within the aerospace sector.
