About the Role
As a Test Engineer at Whisper Aero, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining test equipment and processes to evaluate electric propulsors and related components. You will own the end-to-end test development process, from initial concept to implementation, ensuring accurate data collection and analysis. This position also involves managing external test vendors and providing critical feedback to improve product designs. What You'll Do
- Design and build test rigs for electric propulsion systems and components
- Develop and execute test plans, incorporating feedback from cross-functional teams.
- Conduct tests on components and assemblies, ensuring accurate data acquisition and reporting.
- Manage outsourced testing by coordinating with third-party vendors and laboratories.
- Document and present test results, providing recommendations for product and process improvements.
- Collaborate with design teams to offer insights that drive continuous innovation.
Basic Qualifications
- U.S. Person status (required for access to export-controlled data)
- Minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience in a development or testing environment
- Expertise in data acquisition, sensor placement, signal processing, and related software
- Proven ability to design and implement test rigs and experimental setups
- Experience with mechanical assembly, electrical systems, 3D printing, and tools such as soldering and crimping
- Familiarity with testing dynamic or rotating systems
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate technical concepts effectively
- A detail-oriented approach to creating and maintaining documentation
Bonus Qualifications
- Experience with acoustic testing and analysis
- Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks preferred)
- Knowledge of motor, controller, and battery integration
- Familiarity with UL, ANSI, or aerospace testing standards
- R&D or consumer product testing experience
- Programming experience with Arduino or Raspberry Pi
