What are the responsibilities and job description for the UPK Position- D position at Whispering Pines Preschool?
Whispering Pines Preschool is accepting applications for the position of certified Teacher for a UPK (Universal Pr-Kindergarten) integrated classroom. New York State Certification in Education (Birth to 2nd Grade) is required. The ideal candidate will bring a passion for the mission of Whispering Pines Preschool, an understanding and respect for children and families from diverse groups, and experience working in pediatric settings. The UPK teacher reports to the site supervisors and to the Executive Director.
Job responsibilities include:
- Working individually and in groups with children in special education and regular education classrooms
- Responsible for planning, preparing, and executing age-appropriate activities to accomplish the goals and support the philosophy of Whispering Pines
- Each teacher will always be responsible for the safety and care of the children under his/her supervision.
- Follow the curriculum provided and complete scheduled assessments as well as create a learning environment that is structured, engaging, fun, and safe.
- Communicate with parents at every opportunity on their child's development and activities.
- Conduct verbal parent/teacher conferences in the fall to give parents information and in the spring talk about child's progress.
- Administer, record, and submit data from assessments, observations, conferences, and daily paperwork such as attendance.

Experience working in a preschool setting is preferred, however recent graduates who demonstrate a passion for teaching will be considered.
