INSURANCE ASSOICATE POSITION DESCRIPTION
SUMMARY
The position of Insurance Associate – Sales Agent is responsible for data entry all new insurance accounts; assisting agents with the sales process; general servicing of customer accounts; maintaining client records; assisting with renewals and retention of business.
Assures compliance with all insurance policies and procedures, as well as, all applicable state and federal banking regulations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Maintain licenses, contracts, continuing education as required to sell all lines.
- Along with your supervisor, develop, implement, and manage Business Development Plans for your market area(s).
- Develop sales goals along with your supervisor, monitor and adjust efforts as needed to meet goals.
- Work closely with bank staff in your market on community involvement and general marketing efforts. Refer insurance customers for banking services.
- Generate leads and referrals through bank staff by providing information and training on WIG products and services and coordinating with them on the needs of their customers.
- Generate leads and referrals directly through advertising, networking, and community involvement.
- Provide quotes and other information to lead/referrals to make sales.
- Ensure new customers and policies are set up correctly and coordinates as needed with CSRs to ensure the customers/policies can be managed properly.
- Along with CSRs, administer policies efficiently and provide excellent service to customers.
- Ensure high policy renewal rate through excellent service to customers.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
The position of Insurance Associate – Sales Agent is not responsible for the supervision of any employee(s), however the incumbent required to assist in the cross-training of less experienced branch staff members.
ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY
The incumbent is in a non-confined office-type setting in which he or she is free to move about at will. The position includes driving a Bank or personal owned vehicle approximately 5% of the time which includes exposure to the outside weather elements and moving mechanical parts. It may include some minor annoyances such as noise, odors, drafts, etc.
The incumbent in the course of performing this position spends time writing, typing, speaking, listening, lifting (up to 20 pounds), driving, carrying, seeing (such as close, color and peripheral vision, depth perception and adjusted focus), sitting, pulling, walking, standing, squatting, kneeling and reaching.
The incumbent for this position may operate any or all of the following: telephone, cellular telephone, personal digital assistant (PDA) and/or Blackberry, copy and fax machines, adding machine (calculator), check protector, scanner and image systems, microfilm equipment, encoder, money counter, credit card terminal, typewriter, computer terminal, laptop computer, personal computer and related printers, or other equipment as directed.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or 1 year of related experience and/or training; or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Work related experience should consist of knowledge in the insurance field, sales or customer service background. Educational experience, through in-house training sessions, formal school or financial industry related curriculum, should be business or insurance industry related.
- Intermediate skills in computer terminal and personal computer operation; mainframe computer system; and word processing, spreadsheet and account opening software programs.
- Intermediate typing skills to meet production needs of the position.
- Basic knowledge of general office practices.
- Effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions, interpret documents, understand procedures, write reports and correspondence, and speak clearly to customers and employees.
- Ability to deal with difficult problems involving multiple facets and variables in non-standardized situations.
- Effective organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work with general supervision while performing duties.
- Current driver’s license and a vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage if required to drive in the course of performing assigned duties and responsibilities.
