What are the responsibilities and job description for the Weekend Homemaker - Malden/Campbel Area position at White & Associates Home Assistance, Inc.?
In-home worker for the elderly & disabled. Must be 18 years of age. Experience in home assistance helpful but not necessary. Training provided as needed.
Personal care aides and Homemaker chore workers assist in the care of the elderly, convalescent, or disabled persons in their home by performing the following duties:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Change bed linens, wash and iron client’s laundry and clean client’s environment (including bathroom, kitchen and living area).
2. Purchase, prepare and serve food to client following special prescribed diets.
3. Assist client in and out of bed, wheelchair, up and down stairs, and around the house using the proper lifting techniques and support equipment.
4. Assist clients to dress, bathe and groom self.
5. Perform a variety of miscellaneous duties as requested such as obtaining household supplies and running errands.
6. Assist in activities of daily living.
7. Assist in application of non-prescription topical lotions or ointments.
8. Prevent spread of disease by proper disposal of infected material.
9. Encourage and educate the client in all activities so they can become more self-reliant.
10. Must know when help is needed and call for it.
11. Maintain records of services performed and of hours provided to client.
SPECIAL DEMANDS
1. Must have sympathetic attitude toward the care of the sick.
2. Must have a genuine interest in geriatric care.
3. Must enjoy working with people and have a desire to serve those who are ill and incapacitated.
4. Must be able to adjust self to diversified types of personalities and use tact and judgment in dealing with varying situations
5. Must use tact and courtesy in dealing with clients, their families and visitors.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
1. Work will be indoors in the client’s home.
2. Homemaker may be required to run errands
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $15.00 - $15.50 per hour
Expected hours: 17 – 20 per week
