Check out this new opportunity fresh from the Zanesville Meat Plant. The Production Supervisor supervises, coordinates and is responsible for all production and sanitation activities. This person is responsible for properly communicating with outside contacts to order supplies and coordinate Shipping/Receiving transportation schedules. Other responsibilities include purchasing, quality assurance, safety, and sanitation. This position will be an active part of the HACCP team and is required to fill in during the absence of the Plant Manager. Production Supervisors are expected to uphold and demonstrate the Company’s Core Values. This role description does not contain a comprehensive list of required duties and responsibilities. The Production Supervisor is expected to perform related duties assigned by management, which may be added, revised, or eliminated based on business and operational needs, with or without advance notice. - High School diploma or GED is required;
- Associate degree, trade or technical school is preferred; or a minimum of 7 years of experience in the meat processing industry and/or a proven track record in supervision, or a combination of this general knowledge and the statistical processes knowledge;
- A background in the meat processing industry or USDA is preferred;
- Must know how each piece of equipment operates and be able to function efficiently in any of the line positions which is acquired through observation and hands on experience;
- Knowledge of USDA, HACCP, and OSHA rules and regulations;
- Good math skills, and knowledge of inventory procedures, team member time keeping systems and scheduling is required, either through education, training and/or experience;
- Ability to direct and motivate team members;
- Proficient computer experience with knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel;
- Must have OSHA 10 knowledge or the ability to complete the compliance class;
- Possess good employee relation skills, as well as good verbal communication skills, teamwork, ability to give and receive direction, and follow detailed instructions;
- Ability to learn, apply and train others on equipment procedures and workplace health & safety procedures;
- Ability to work quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced environment;
- Possess the capability to stay focused and accomplish multiple tasks independently with little supervision and within established timeframes;
- Ability to troubleshoot problems and be able to make on the spot decisions to keep equipment running;
- Competent to operate a forklift;
- Ability to successfully complete on-the-job training; and
- Must be flexible to work hours to meet the needs of the plant, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Supervision of all Formulate/Grind, Slice/Pack, Sanitation Lead Operators, Line Supervisors and Warehouse Supervisor to meet all sanitation needs and production requirements;
- Coordinate production and sanitation activities across all shifts to maximize production while meeting sanitation goals, quality goals, food safety guidelines and company objectives;
- Oversee and provide guidance, and direction to the Shipping/Receiving Department with daily dock procedures, forklift safety, finished and raw product rotation, daily and weekly reports, dry storage inventory procedures and housekeeping;
- Serve as Safety Coordinator to oversee all plant safety responsibilities and for implementing and maintaining plant safety programs and to meet the company’s and OSHA requirements;
- Ensure compliance with all White Castle programs, policies, rules, and procedures including, but not limited to Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP), Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) program, Plant Safety Programs and OSHA general industry rules, Plant Policy and Procedure playbook, Quality Assurance Guidelines (GMP), Company Policy and Procedure Manual, USDA & FDA Regulations and Directives;
- Ensure all orientation, training and other various administrative reports are accurate and submitted to the front office in a timely manner;
- Interview, hire, orientate, train, guide and develop team members and line supervisors;
- Train, monitor and evaluate the line supervisors;
- Develop and maintain written operating procedures for the production process, shipping & receiving responsibilities, and sanitation operations;
- Assume general responsibilities in the absence of the plant manager and/or assistant plant manager;
- Comply with incident reporting policies and procedures;
- Adhere to Plant’s security and safety policies and procedures; and
- Communicate effectively with customers and all levels of the organization in a professional manner, display a positive demeanor and be responsive to the teams’ needs.
- Ability to work in a wet slippery environment with occasional exposure to noise, heat, cold, fumes, smoke, cleaners, and other elements;
- Ability to wear safety gear including safety glasses, and other various types of safety gear supplied by the company;
- Prolong periods of standing, sitting, and walking;
- Frequent bending, turning, twisting, stooping, and lifting;
- Ability to lift 60 to 70 lb. blocks of meat (unassisted/assisted), pallets, etc. pushing tubs and carts; and
- Ability to hear, comprehend, and professionally respond inquiries, comments, and concerns.
