Job Title: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Department:
Nursing Reports To: Director of Nursing/Charge Nurse/Registered Nurse (RN)
Summary: We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to provide quality care to residents/patients. The CNA will work under the supervision of licensed nurses, providing direct patient care and assisting with daily living activities to ensure their comfort, safety, and well-being.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
* Personal Care: Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) including:
* Bathing (bed bath, shower, or tub)
* Dressing and undressing
* Grooming (hair care, nail care, oral hygiene)
* Toileting and incontinence care
* Assisting with ambulation, transfers (bed to chair, etc.), and range of motion exercises, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices as needed.
Meals and Nutrition:
* Serving meals and assisting residents/patients with eating, ensuring proper nutrition and hydration.
* Monitoring and documenting food and fluid intake.
* Reporting any changes in appetite or eating habits to the nursing staff.
* Vital Signs and Monitoring:
* Taking and recording vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure) as directed.
* Observing residents/patients for changes in condition and reporting any concerns promptly to the nursing staff. This includes changes in physical, mental, or emotional status.
* Documenting all observations and care provided accurately and legibly in the medical record.
* Environmental Maintenance:
* Maintaining a clean, safe, and organized environment for residents/patients.
* Making beds, changing linens, and tidying rooms regularly.
* Ensuring that call lights are within reach and functioning properly.
* Adhering to infection control protocols and maintaining a sanitary environment.
* Communication and Interaction:
* Communicating effectively with residents/patients, families, and staff members, using respectful and empathetic language.
* Providing emotional support and companionship to residents/patients, promoting their social and emotional well-being.
* Respecting residents'/patients' rights and privacy at all times.
* Collaboration and Teamwork:
* Working collaboratively with the nursing team and other healthcare professionals to provide holistic care.
* Participating in care planning meetings and contributing valuable insights about residents'/patients' needs and preferences.
* Following the plan of care as directed by the nursing staff.
* Adherence to Policies and Procedures:
* Adhering to all facility policies and procedures, including safety regulations, infection control protocols, and resident/patient rights.
* Maintaining confidentiality of resident/patient information.
* Participating in continuing education and training programs to enhance skills and knowledge.
Qualifications:
* Current and valid Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification in the state.
* High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
* Experience working with individuals in a healthcare setting is a plus, but not always required for entry-level positions.
* Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English. Bilingual skills are a plus.
* Basic computer skills for documentation purposes.
* Demonstrated ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
* Strong interpersonal skills and a compassionate, patient, and empathetic demeanor.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Physical stamina to meet the demands of the job, including standing, walking, lifting, and bending.
Must be able to assist with lifting and transferring patients.
