Director of Nursing (DON): Hiring Immediately

Summary:
The Director of Nursing (DON) is a Registered Nurse (RN) responsible for the overall planning, direction, coordination, and evaluation of nursing services within our skilled nursing facility. The DON ensures the delivery of high-quality, resident-centered care by federal and state regulations, established policies and procedures, and budgetary guidelines. This position requires strong leadership, clinical expertise, and a commitment to fostering a positive and supportive work environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Must Show Leadership & Management:
Develop and implement the philosophy, objectives, policies, and procedures for the nursing unit.
* Supervise, evaluate, and mentor nursing staff, including RNs, LPNs, CNAs, and other nursing personnel.
* Create and maintain staffing schedules that meet resident care needs and regulatory requirements.
* Manage the nursing budget and ensure cost-effective resource utilization.
* Participate in the recruitment, hiring, and orientation of nursing staff.
* Conduct regular staff meetings and provide ongoing education and training.
* Foster a positive and collaborative work environment that promotes teamwork and professional growth.
* Address and resolve staff concerns and grievances.
* Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations related to nursing care.
* Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement activities.
* Collaborate with other departments to ensure coordinated and integrated care.
Resident Care:
* Oversee the development and implementation of individualized care plans for each resident.
* Monitor the quality of nursing care provided and ensure adherence to established standards of practice.
* Ensure accurate and timely documentation of resident care.
* Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to coordinate resident care.
* Address resident and family concerns and complaints.
* Advocate for resident rights and ensure their dignity and respect are maintained.
* Clinical Expertise:
* Maintain current knowledge of nursing best practices and regulations.
* Provide direct patient care as needed.
* Serve as a clinical resource for nursing staff.
* Participate in the assessment and management of resident emergencies.
Other Duties:
* Participate in facility committees and meetings
* Represent the nursing department at interdisciplinary meetings.
* Maintain accurate records and prepare reports as required.
* Perform other duties as assigned by the Administrator/Executive Director.
Qualifications:
* Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maryland
* Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
* Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in nursing, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory or management role in a skilled nursing facility.
* Knowledge of federal and state regulations related to skilled nursing care.
* Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to manage and motivate staff.
* Excellent clinical skills and judgment.
* Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
* Computer proficiency.
