JOB SUMMARY
This position is responsible for assisting with voter registration processes for the county and for assisting with county election processes and procedures.
MAJOR DUTIES
- Receives and processes voter registration applications; validates information and requests needed information; registers citizens to vote; scans hard copy documents into statewide system.
- Determines new voter precincts and districts.
- Processes voter registration changes.
- Assists in maintaining an accurate voter list.
- Answers telephone and greets visitors; provides information and assistance regarding voter registration and elections.
- Mails precinct identification cards to voters.
- Assists with voting equipment logic and accuracy testing; prepares election equipment and supplies for deployment on election day.
- Assists in processing absentee ballot applications; issues absentee ballots and processes completed ballots.
- Recruits and maintains list of poll workers; submits payroll information for poll workers; assists with poll worker training and assignments.
- Reviews street and address list; makes additions and updates; monitors accuracy of precinct and district combinations.
- Serves as local filing officer for the Georgia Campaign Finance Commission; collects completed and signed documents from candidates and uploads to Commission database.
- Performs related duties.

SUPERVISORY CONTROLS
The Elections Supervisor assigns work in terms of general instructions. The supervisor spot-checks completed work for compliance with procedures, accuracy, and the nature and propriety of the final results.
GUIDELINES
Guidelines include the state constitution, the Georgia Election Code – Annotated, State Election Board rules, Secretary of State guidelines, and department and county policies and procedures. These guidelines are generally clear and specific but may require some interpretation in application.
COMPLEXITY/SCOPE OF WORK
- The work consists of related administrative and voter registration duties. Strict regulations and timelines contribute to the complexity of the position.
- The purpose of this position is to assist with voter registration and participate in county election processes. Successful performance contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of election processes and compliance with all state and federal regulations.

- Contacts are typically with co-workers, other county employees, elected and appointed officials, representatives of state and federal governments, and the general public.
- Contacts are typically to give or exchange information, resolve problems, and provide services.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT
- The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching, or stooping. The employee occasionally lifts light and heavy objects.

SUPERVISORY AND MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY
None.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education.
- Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
- Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
- Appropriate State of Georgia Election Official Certification required.
