Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Director of Greenhouse Operations to oversee all aspects of our greenhouse operation. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in horticulture, agriculture, or related fields, along with proven leadership abilities and a passion for sustainable farming practices. The Director of Greenhouse Operations will be responsible for managing day-to-day operations, implementing strategic initiatives, and ensuring the efficient production of high-quality crops.
Responsibilities
Implement and adhere to greenhouse management plans, including crop scheduling, cultivation techniques, and pest and disease management strategies.
- Supervise and lead a team of greenhouse growers and staff, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations as needed.
- Collaborate with f&b teams to identify and implement innovative growing techniques, new crop varieties, and sustainable farming practices.
- Ensure compliance with all regulations, including food safety standards and environmental regulations.
- Oversee greenhouse maintenance and infrastructure upgrades, coordinating with management and external contractors as necessary.
- Manage greenhouse budgets, including forecasting expenses, monitoring costs, and resource allocation to maximize efficiency, productivity and revenue generation.
- Foster a culture of accountability, and continuous improvement, promoting teamwork and open communication among staff members.
- Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in greenhouse management.
Other Information
Bachelor's degree in horticulture, agronomy, agricultural science, or related field (master's degree preferred).
- Proven experience in greenhouse management or agricultural production, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of greenhouse operations, and crop management techniques.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire teams to achieve goals.
- Proficient in budgeting, financial analysis, and project management.
- Familiarity with greenhouse automation systems, environmental controls and technology.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
