Job description
Are you a highly organized and detail-oriented individual? White Pine Camp, a beautiful resort in Paul Smiths, New York, is seeking a dedicated and reliable Lead Housekeeper to join our team for a rewarding full-time, year-round career!
In this crucial role, you'll not only ensure the pristine cleanliness and comfort of our guest rooms and facilities but also play a key part in leading our small housekeeping team. You'll enjoy a consistent schedule of 30 to 40 hours per week, with occasional opportunities for overtime, primarily during our few annual wedding weekends. Plus, you'll benefit from paid time off and paid holidays.
As our Lead Housekeeper, you will:
- Oversee and participate in cleaning our guest cabins, thus helping to create a welcoming atmosphere for our guests.
- Inspire and coordinate our small housekeeping team's schedules, fostering a positive and efficient work environment.
- Manage and track necessary cleaning and guest supplies, communicating with the office to ensure we're always well-equipped.
- Help to identify and report any maintenance needs to the appropriate department.
This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact on our guest experience and contribute to the smooth operation of our beautiful resort year-round. If you are a proactive leader with an eye for detail and excellent communication skills, we encourage you to apply!
Core Responsibilities:
- Example in Cleanliness: Perform detailed cleaning tasks in guest rooms and common areas, such as vacuuming, dusting, mopping, sanitizing, and making beds to ensure our standards are consistently met.
- Guest Supplies: Restock guest supplies and amenities.
- Maintain Clean and Welcoming Common Spaces: Ensure all assigned common areas are consistently clean and welcoming for our guests.
- Proactive Property Care: Identify and promptly report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to the appropriate department, contributing to a safe and well-maintained environment.
- Team Coordination: Our Lead Housekeeper is primarily in charge of scheduling our small housekeeping team to ensure efficient coverage during changeover days.
- Supply Management: Monitor inventory levels of cleaning and guest supplies, and let the office knowwhen restocking is needed.
Schedule & Hours:
This is a year-round, full-time position typically consisting of 30 to 40 hours per week.
- Weekly Schedule: Specific days each week may vary based on the needs of the resort. Saturday availability is a key component of this role, particularly during our busy summer season, where Saturdays are the changeover day for our weekly rentals, as we require week-long rentals during the summer (the ten weeks prior to Labor Day Weekend).
- Overtime Opportunities: There may be a few opportunities for additional hours each year, especially during our wedding weekends (typically two per year - one in June, one in September). We value flexibility and will communicate these needs well in advance.
Qualifications:
- A Foundation in Housekeeping (Preferred but Not Required): Previous housekeeping or cleaning experience is preferred. However, we are also willing to train motivated individuals who demonstrate a strong work ethic and a commitment to excellence.
- Reliability and Punctuality are Key: The ability to be on time is essential for this role. We count on our team members to be dependable, and our Lead Housekeeper must help set the example.
- Attention to Detail: An eye for small details is necessary in maintaining a clean environment for our guests.
- Self-Starter with a Strong Team Spirit: You should be comfortable working independently at times, managing your tasks effectively, while also being a collaborative and positive member of our small team.
- Effective Time Management: Being organized and managing your time efficiently is crucial for success in this role.
- Positive Attitude: A friendly attitude goes a long way, especially since we have a small, close-knit team.
Training:
We are eager to welcome our new Lead Housekeeper as soon as possible and will provide comprehensive paid training to ensure your success in this role.
- Immediate Training Opportunities: We are looking to hire and begin training the right candidate within the next two weeks.
