Job Description :
Receive body materials, fluids, exudate, and scrapings; assist physicians with FNA procedures and collect specimens from patients.Examine and record classification of slides; present slides with unusual cytomorphology to Pathologist for further examination.Maintain records of screening workload performed, in compliance with regulatory requirements.Screen gynecological and non-gynecological cases daily in a timely manner.Assist with preparation, staining, and coverslipping of cytology specimens as needed.Aid in Cytology Aspiration procedures scheduled with the Department, such as Ambulatory Surgery, Breast Imaging, and Endoscopy.Label all Cytology stained slides; ensure accuracy by comparing name, number of slides, clinical information, and gross description against Cytology requisitions.Change and clean equipment and solutions in the Cytology Aspiration procedure tray; ensure supplies are stocked as needed.Maintain all records as per regulatory requirements.Maintain CME log.Participate in departmental activities as directed by the Chief Cytotechnologist or Laboratory Director.Physical / Mental Demands / Requirements :
May be exposed to chemicals necessary for performing tasks, with hazardous chemicals listed in the hospital's Safety Data Sheet (SDS) database.Must be able to move about the department and hospital constantly and remain stationary for extended periods.Requires frequent use of computers and other office and laboratory equipment.Primary Population Served :
