Position Summary:
Conducts color flow doppler, stress and TEE echos. Conducts other non invasive procedures such as EKG, EEGs. |
Job Responsibilities:
See below. Performs other duties as assigned.
1. Conducts color flow doppler echos following established protocols.
2. Conducts stress echos according to established protocols.
3. Assist Cardiologist in the TEE procedure.
4. Submits echocardiogram at the highest quality possible well within the appropriate time span.
5. Identifies and conducts echos with delegation.
6. Identifies and conducts other non invasive testing without delegation. Example: EKG, Holter.
7. Must be proficient in the use of all other medical equipment such as EKG and EEG machines.
8. Must be proficient in the use of office equipment such as copy machine, fax and computer.
9. Recognizes and reports and equipment malfunction.
10. Maintains safety standards at all times and follows infection control guidelines.
11. Performs neat, accurate and thorough clerical tasks which include making appointments, entering daily charges into computer and log book.
12. Participates in the performance improvement program.
13. Demonstrates the ability to work and communicate with all members of the hospital team.
14. Conducts other non invasive procedures.
15. Recognizes abnormal echo findings and communicates any life threatening situation to the appropriate personnel.
16. Ability to interact with neonates through the geriatric population.
Education, Training, Licensure and Experience Requirements
Graduate from an accredited cardiovascular ultrasound program.
Registered cardiac ultrasound technologist or ARDMS registry eligible.
Two years experience conducting echocardiograms.
Experience in other non invasive procedures.
Successful completion of orientation program according to department guidelines.

Must be able to speak, write, understand and communicate the English language. Ability to communicate with patients and patients family. Ability to communicate well with physicians, staff and all employees in the hospital. Retains composure under stress. |
Essential Physical Requirements:
Must be physically able to push the echo machine and/or any other equipment to nursing units or emergency room. Use of hand coordination and finger dexterity. Must be physically able to bend, stretch and reach in order to file. |
Essential Mental Abilities: |
Must have the ability to concentrate, focus and be detail oriented and accurate. Must have the ability to perform repetitive tasks. |
Essential Sensory Requirements: |
Must be able to communicate to appropriate personnel any unusual situations that need immediate response. Must have the ability to visualize any life threatening findings while testing. |
Exposure to Hazards: |
May be exposed to chemicals necessary to perform non invasive testing and clerical tasks. Any chemicals/substances the employees may be exposed to as noted in the Cardiology Department MSDS book. |
