Position Summary
The LIS Analyst utilizes his/her knowledge of the clinical or business requirements, application capabilities, and his/her technical skills to implement and support applications. The LIS Analyst is responsible for the implementation of new applications, upgrades, and modifications to existing systems. The LIS Analyst is also responsible for the application configuration, go-live support, and on-going client support. The Analyst works on multiple projects concurrently. The LIS Analyst provides outstanding client service and contributes to the organization’s mission of utilizing information technology to improve patient care. Consults with Manager and Laboratory leadership to review all activities of the laboratories to achieve maximum quality of testing and compliance with all requirements by regulatory agencies. Performs other duties as assigned.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities Includes the Following:
- Ensure the delivery of high-quality department/clinical services in compliance with hospital and regulatory standards.
- Maintain a safe environment for both employees and patients.
- Monitor compliance with accrediting agencies and ensure all documentation meets required standards.
- Oversee staff competency, orientation, training, and ongoing education.
- Participate in committees, task forces, and special projects as needed.
- Work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams to support hospital-wide initiatives.
- Foster positive employee relations and customer service while ensuring adherence to behavioral standards.
- Serve as a change agent to support hospital initiatives and technological advancements.
- Maintain effective communication within and outside the department.
- Install, configure, and upgrade applications while ensuring seamless integration with existing systems.
- Provide go-live support, rollout assistance, and ongoing troubleshooting for system users.
- Analyze business and clinical workflows to optimize system functionality.
- Create system specifications and test plans to ensure efficient implementation of upgrades and modifications.
- Design database queries and generate reports using appropriate tools.
- Maintain accurate documentation for applications and related processes.
- Monitor and resolve application issues, escalating as necessary to vendors or appropriate teams.
- Assist in hardware, network, and workstation troubleshooting in collaboration with IT support teams.
- Support instrument interfacing, software enhancements, and report formatting within laboratory systems.
- Troubleshoot instrument malfunctions and coordinate with vendors for resolution.
- Provide professional and timely customer support on a 24x7 rotating basis.
- Train end users on new applications, modules, and system functionalities.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of training materials for system users.
- Participate in the development of effective system utilization and process improvements.
- Ensure regulatory compliance in system operations and documentation.
- Engage in continuous learning to stay current with industry advancements.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support departmental and organizational goals.
Education & Experience Requirements
- BS Degree
- Laboratory Information Systems experience preferred
- EPIC BEAKER Certification or Eligible

- May be exposed to chemicals necessary to perform required tasks. Any hazardous chemicals the employee may be exposed to are listed in the hospital’s SDS (Safety Data Sheet) data base and may be accessed through the hospital’s Intranet site (Employee Tools/SDS Access). A copy of the SDS data base can also be found at the hospital switchboard, saved on a disc.
