Job Summary:
This position requires demonstrated systems analyst and administrator skills with an emphasis on healthcare information systems. Position requires ability to lead complex information systems projects with familiarity and utilization of project management tools. The Senior Systems Analyst III is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, maintenance, and evolution of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure. This individual will lead and/or assist project teams with technical issues and assist with the definition of needs, benefits, and technical strategy; research & development within the project life-cycle; technical analysis and design; and support of operations staff in executing, testing and rolling-out the solutions. The individual in this position is considered to be a subject matter expert in numerous software applications, as well as be having fundamental knowledge of all systems within the assigned departmental structure.

  • Systems Analyst III duties
    • Routinely analyzes assigned system performance, conducts security risk assessments, and identifies potential issues requiring intervention.
    • Provides computer information systems implementation and production support for assigned departments and/or information systems. Works with Network Administrators to install new/rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.
    • Oversees implementation projects assigned and independently meets required deadlines.
    • Leads/assists with analysis, design, development, testing, and verification of assigned systems. Completely and clearly documents all work in project and application lifecycle.
    • Reports, documents, and communicates with vendors to resolve issues related to information systems problems or requested enhancements. Escalates problems as necessary through vendor, senior analyst, manager, and/or director.
    • Implements detailed tasks as required within the work plan for assigned information systems projects.
    • Assures that duties assigned are completed in a timely manner. Provides direction and assistance as required, including performance of routine maintenance procedures as needed.
    • Possesses a sound understanding of the interactions between hardware, operating system software and network operations and the design and administrative requirements to ensure an efficient, reliable, secure infrastructure.
    • At all times employs best practices in systems analysis and design efforts in order to contain project scope and cost.
    • Adheres to department standards for project management, system selection, maintenance, documentation, and service levels.
    • Ensures all server systems comply with federal, state, and governing bodies’ regulations including the Arkansas Department of Health and State HIPAA regulations.
    • Provides computer information systems implementation and production support for assigned departments and/or information systems. Works with Network Administrators to install new/rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.
    • Provides input into the Information Systems budgeting activities and recommends information systems projects to improve the operations of the organization.
    • Continually updates personal knowledge of healthcare, technology, and training by participating in continuing education programs/conferences, and by review of the literature and periodicals.
    • In cooperation with technical support team, assures that system back-ups, data continuity and disaster recovery procedures and policies are developed and effectively implemented.
    • Serves as conduit of information between applicable vendors and users to communicate potential system changes, enhancements, and issues. Forwards appropriate vendor communication to users.
    • Develops training curriculum content in cooperation with departmental users, and Education Department. Must be able to conduct formal training sessions and one-to-one training as needed.
    • Develops issue tickets with vendor support staff as appropriate. Monitors overall maintenance and support tickets for all assigned systems for timely and thorough resolution of problems. Escalates problems as necessary through vendor and Manager.
    • Routinely provides updates to Manager and other team members about outstanding issues, updates, and trends.
    • Meets with user areas to gather information on production problems, as necessary. Refers issues to Manager as needed for further intervention.
    • Provides appropriate direction and project leadership to other team members.
    • Performs all assigned duties or tasks according to departmental or generally accepted information systems standards and procedures.
    • Provides on-call support when required. Provides occasional weekend and night support to Information Services on a rotational or emergency basis.
    • Performs other duties as required by organizational imperatives/as assigned by supervision.

  • Other Responsibilities
  • Required to be on call as scheduled.
  • Adhere to standardization.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on network equipment throughout WRMC.
  • Required to call technical support when issues arise.
  • Document all work in help desk software.
  • Interact well with patients, guest, and other healthcare professionals; including those who may be angry and upset.
  • Complete multiple tasks with competing deadlines.
  • Accept additional assignments and completes them in a timely manner.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervision.


Qualifications:


  • Education: Bachelors’ degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field. Systems Administration/Engineer or Healthcare Information Management Systems certification preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Training and Experience: 10 years experience in healthcare system applications support required.
  • Job Knowledge: Excellent oral and written communication skills required. Good customer relations skills and project management skills necessary to lead multiphase, multi-disciplined projects working with all levels of health care system staff. Ability to meet department work schedule as designated including on call support as needed. Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

  • Must be able to report to work fit for duty and free of any adverse effects of illegal drugs, medical marijuana, prescription medication, and/or alcohol.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate both orally and in writing with other individuals.


Physical Demands
: Job responsibilities require a considerable amount of physical work. The individual will be required to assist with lifting and moving equipment; and lifting or pushing of up to 50 pounds. The individual must also be able to maneuver throughout the halls, stairways, and patient rooms in response to hospital emergencies. Interpretation of environmental input requires visual and auditory skills. A significant amount of writing and computer entry is required.
