CAD/CAM Engineer
POSITION SUMMARY:
The CAD/CAM Engineer assists the engineering and design team by creating 3D CAD models of parts and assemblies from sketches, drawings, and verbal descriptions. Supports Tooling Shop, Rigging/Testing Shop, and Plant Engineering in the development of marine products. Rely on personal engineering aptitude, instructions, and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Performs within, and in conformance to, the company CATIA 3DExperience product data management system. Develops CAD documentation compatible with tooling and manufacturing fabrication procedures. Operates geometric data acquisition devices such as laser scanners and probes to reverse engineer and perform QC. Verify patterns, molds, and parts to design tolerances.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Create parametric surface models of new products and new product families in CATIA 3DExperience.
- Produce 3-D printed prototype parts for fit check activities.
- Effective time management.
- Adherence to company 3-D modeling best practices.
- Help develop and introduce new product designs in a timely manner by collaborating with a team of tooling technicians, designers, and engineers.
- Troubleshoot problems with design and tooling concepts.
- Create complete documentation of NPD designs using CATIA 3DExperience PLM software.
- Participate in design for manufacturability to achieve and improve best efficiency and quality.
- Meet product schedule deadlines.
- Operation of geometric data acquisition devices.
- Verify conformance to compliance standards for marine manufacture as applicable.
- Minimum Degree Required: Bachelor of Science in Mechanical/Aero/Electrical Engineering Technology, Associate of Science in Design/Drafting Technology.
- An applicant possessing an equivalent level of education and experience which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the job will also be considered.
- Experience and knowledge of CATIA V5 or CATIA 3DExperience software preferred.
- Knowledge and experience with 3-axis and 5-axis CNC operation and programming using Mastercam is a plus.
- Strong understanding of CATIA V5 or CATIA 3DExperience Generative Shape Design (GSD) and Part Design workbenches.
- An interest in, or basic understanding of 3D printing principles. A basic understanding of large-scale additive manufacturing (LSAM) principles is a plus.
- Ability to apply manufacturing requirements to component designs.
- Ability to translate 2D sketches into 3D CAD surface models that accurately capture industrial design intent.
