What are the responsibilities and job description for the Material Handler position at White River Marine Group?
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Material Handler is responsible for the physical loading, unloading and/or sorting of packages of varying sizes and weights by hand, including lifting, pushing, pulling, carrying, scanning, placing packages, as well as physical bending, twisting, kneeling etc. in a safe and efficient manner.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Picks orders based on customer specifications.
- Scans materials and data entry when required.
- Reviews orders prior to packaging for accuracy and quality.
- Packs orders to ensure that it reaches our customer in excellent condition.
- Inspects raw materials for damage, contamination, or discoloration.
- Documents incoming shipments and movements as required.
- Communicates effectively and appropriately with Production, Quality, and Group Leaders.
- Reviews orders prior to packaging for accuracy and quality.
- ALL OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED
EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum Degree Required: High School Diploma or equivalent
- Preferred Degree: Associates Degree or Trade School
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year required, 3 years preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY:
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Experience operating a forklift and or picker is a plus.
- Strong organizational and clerical skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Experienced using MS Office Suite
- Understanding of database/computer programs
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently with internal customers and company personnel with diverse backgrounds and abilities.
- Complies with all safety policies and procedures
