What are the responsibilities and job description for the Special Educator Grades K - 5 (25-26 School Year) position at White River School?
The White River School in Hartford, VT seeks an expert teacher to serve as a special educator. We are a PreK-5 school in downtown White River Junction, and part of the Hartford School District. Special educators play an important role within our school community. In addition to providing specialized instruction and serving as case managers for students with disabilities, they serve as collaborators and access specialists on grade-level teams. Special educators partner with related service providers and oversee paraprofessional staff. Through ongoing teaming with classroom teachers, special educators build and implement instructional strategies at the universal level.
The ideal candidate will have significant skills and knowledge related to effective instruction and assessment, particularly in reading, writing and math, as well as the ability to design and implement intensive-level interventions and specialized instruction. Experience using evidence-based diagnostic tools and programs, such as Orton Gillingham, is preferred. Candidates should have a strong background in trauma informed practices and social-emotional learning.
