The White River Valley Supervisory Union is seeking a full time Middle School Flexible Pathways Coordinator to provide learning opportunities to the students in our district, beginning July 1, 2025. The White River Valley Supervisory Union is located in the beautiful and picturesque White River Valley of Vermont. The White River Valley is approximately 25 minutes from Killington/Pico Ski Resort and 12 miles from Saskadena Six ski mountain. The White River flows through our districts making canoeing and kayaking very convenient after work or on the weekends. Hiking trails are plentiful. Flexible Pathways Coordinator & Educator, 1.00 FTE White River Valley Middle School (Grades 6–8) White River Valley Middle School is seeking a Flexible Pathways Coordinator & Educator to lead the development of personalized, student-centered learning opportunities for students in grades 6–8. This role includes both teaching responsibilities and program coordination, with a strong focus on supporting Capstone Projects, career exploration, and community-connected learning. The Flexible Pathways Coordinator will help guide students as they begin to explore their interests, strengths, and future possibilities—laying the foundation for continued success in high school and beyond. The Coordinator will also collaborate closely with staff to support Student Learning and integrate Flexible Pathways into the fabric of the middle school experience. Demonstrated Skills and Abilities: Commitment to the belief that “All students are supported, challenged, and engaged with a personalized education.” Familiarity with early career development tools and practices appropriate for middle school students Ability to balance big-picture thinking with attention to detail and logistics An entrepreneurial and optimistic mindset, with a passion for creating opportunities Strong collaboration and communication skills within a fast-paced, team-oriented environment Proficiency with technology tools or ability and willingness to learn Understanding of the Vermont Flexible Pathways Initiative (Act 77) and its application in a middle school setting Key Responsibilities: Coordinate and implement Personalized Learning Plans (PLPs) for all students in grades 6–8 Support and guide 8th-grade Capstone Projects, helping students explore areas of interest and present their learning Teach exploratory and skill-building classes aligned with personalized learning goals Organize and support career exploration activities, including guest speakers, community visits, and early work-based learning experiences Collaborate with middle school and high school staff to ensure continuity and growth of personalized learning opportunities Help students reflect on their growth and develop transferable skills aligned with the WRVSU Portrait of a Learner Develop materials and communication strategies to promote Flexible Pathways within the school and community Build and maintain partnerships with local organizations and potential mentors to support student learning Perform other duties as assigned by the administration This is a unique opportunity to shape a growing program that empowers middle schoolers to explore who they are and how they want to learn.
