What are the responsibilities and job description for the English Teacher position at White River Valley Supervisory Union?
Seeking an English Teacher to implement a proficiency-based approach to the teaching of grades 9-12 English. The ideal candidate will be able to provide dynamic, student centered instruction to engage a range of students in diverse programs from AP English Literature to our alternative high school. All WRVHS Teachers work with students in Advisory Groups and Independent Study courses. Candidates interested in coaching and/or sponsoring co-curricular activities including clubs will be given additional attention.
Education and/or experience A Vermont certified English teacher or candidate eligible for a VT teaching license. Demonstrated Skills and Abilities: Commitment to the vision that All students are supported, challenged, and engaged with a personalized education. Ability to work collaboratively in a fast paced team environment. Demonstrated experience with virtual instruction especially use of the Google Suite.Understand how to support the Vermont Flexible Pathways Initiative, created by Act 77.
Responsibilities: Deliver dynamic and engaging lessons to advance the learning and success of all students.Develop a curriculum that follows and assesses the WRVSU Learning Expectations. Guide further development of personalized learning plans and passage presentations into a personalized learning process that blends proficiency, purpose, and engagement.Facilitate and monitor independent and guided learning experiences to engage students interested in alternate pathways to learning and graduation. Any other duties as assigned by the administration. Salary: Varies with experience and educationRequirements: Vermont Professional Educators license.
